Featuring the strong bow line and superstructure of this famous aircraft carrier. With its 27,100 tons, 4 x 5″ single gun mounts, 4 x single 5 inch guns and a large array of anti-aircraft guns this Essex-Class flat top was a force to reckon with.  Having served at the Battle Of Leyte Gulf she received 5 battle stars over her service during WW2. The US flag in red and blue with silver accents. The nickname “The Fighting I” is also carved into the coin along with its hull number CV-11. With 5 battle stars from her actions in WW2 they are ornately displayed at the top of the coin.
