The F-14 Tomcat was a US Navy aircraft that performed on an unimaginable level and proved her worth immediately. So that is why she was introduced into the Cold War Combatant Challenge Coins offered at Vision Strike Coins. The F-14 Tomcat Top Gun of the Cold War Combatants Challenge Coins is and has always been our passion to design and make. Tomcat Baby!

So it begs the question.

What if Maverick had never come out of the bathroom with call sign “Charlie”?

Because we would have had a very different Top Gun film and the illustrious F-14 Tomcat may have never flown across the fabled movie screens across America. We would have never talked to Goose, never felt the need for speed and for the love of God Maverick and Goose would have never gone inverted up against a MiG-25 Foxbat.

But thankfully he did buzz the tower and we got to see more flight jackets emblazoned with US Navy squadron patches than you could shake a tail hook at for years to come.

Hollywood Messed Up Again With the Military

So it wasn’t even a Foxbat and instead looked like a US military training aircraft. The Foxbat might have performed a touch better. Lol.

Building the F-14 Tomcat USA Cold War Combatants Challenge Coin

and was a labor of love due to the fact this naval aircraft was so famous and powerfully introduced to America back in the 1980’s. She was a beautiful and very fast bird and the F-14 Tomcat coin had to be produced for this reason alone.

So you can’t think just in terms of what the USA had to offer in the way of an air superiority fighter. You had to be concerned about what the USSR had in the air as well and that came in the form of the MiG-25 Foxbat.

So don’t forget to check out the new Top Gun: Maverick movie just release from Paramount Pictures. No spoilers here except its the F-18 and not the Tomcat anymore! All we will say is that not only is Tom Cruise back to play the title role!

The F-14 Tomcat Top Gun

But there will be a few cameos to some old cast members including the Iceman played by Val Kilmer, whom Tom Cruise insisted on a touching tribute to his fellow actor who has been struggling with throat cancer for the past decade. All out hope and prayers go out to you Iceman. However we wont be seeing a cameo from our favorite RIO “Goose”. Knowing Hollywood we should expect some of the same formula as the first for instance.

New Top Gun Maverick Movie

Over the past 2 years the movie industry has truly tanked with focus on nonsense narratives that are polluting the minds of our youth instead of goal driven maverick willing to push the envelope to achieve greatness. What is wrong with wanting greatness for oneself or for a culture, nation and World?

Sadly the media has been dictating stories that project a negative perspective that over the decades has morally and spiritually affected the new generations turning them into apathy jellyfish. We like seeing movies that teach one to think, eat, and live outside the “Box” as Maverick does in the original Top Gun movie and with the latest patriotic tale about US Navy Fighter Pilots protecting our freedom defending our skies!
