Veteran Coin
Since 1775 the men and women of America, the greatest country in all the land have taken up arms and sailed into harms’ way to defend their homes against those whom wish them harm. When a Sailor departs their ship for the last time it is customary for the Bosun to pipe “Shipmate going ashore” and to ring the ship’s bell: an honor usually reserved for the Captain. This is in recognition of their service to their Shipmates, and the sacrifices that they have endured all in the name of FREEDOM.
Though Naval Retirement Ceremonies may vary it has become tradition to read two poems:
- The Watch. In recognition of the Sailor’s sacrifices having served served abroad and away from their homes and loved ones.
- I am Old Glory. In recognition of this Sailor’s sacrifices in the name of the cloth of their nation. Those 13 stripes, and 50 stars mean the world to them. They are not just a design, they bring chills to the spine of the Sailor for he remembers seeing it having covered his Shipmates whom fell in battle.
VETERAN
America is a country because of its Veterans. Pure and simple. Without them we would have lost many a battle and a war and our country could have quite easily been speaking German, Russian or Japanese had it not been for the incredible dedication and sacrifice of our military veterans. It was the soldier, not the politician that founded this country. It was men that had a resounding affect on policy and freedom shaped on their beliefs that all men should be given the opportunity to succeed and to take what is ours and not allow another nation to dictate what we can do, where can go and what we can say. This US Veteran Forever Will I Own The Title Coin was created for every veteran that has raised their right hand, taken a pledge to defend this country against all who would threaten it and ensured that Americans and their freedoms would be forever kept and maintained. This coin was made specifically for them without hesitation but with conviction and the desire to keep the memories and support of our US veterans firmly remembered at all times. Blood, sweat and tears have been the price they have paid, it has never been inherited and forever will they own the title US Veteran.
