Sitting quiet on an early Sunday morning in December of 1941, with her Sailors sleeping and relaxing onboard moved about their ships without the knowledge that the full force of 4 Empire Of Japan aircraft carriers were descending on the harbor. Launched from the Kido Butai (Mobile Force) the carrier Akagi, Kaga, Sōryū, and Hiryū ushered in the attack on Pearl Harbor. The Japanese strike force consisted of 353 aircraft launched from four heavy carriers. These included 40 torpedo planes, 103 level bombers, 131 dive-bombers, and 79 fighters. The attack also consisted of two heavy cruisers, 35 submarines, two light cruisers, nine oilers, two battleships, and 11 destroyers.
