The Texas, a New York Class battleship fought in World War 1 operating in the North Atlantic. Later at the outset of World War 2 when America following the attack on Pearl Harbor, brought the Texas from her moor in Maine to the open waters of the Mediterranean shelling Axis positions off the coast of North Africa. Later she was present at the Battles of Iwo Jima and Okinawa shelling Japanese positions.

The USS Texas is the only remaining World War 1 battleship in existence. She is also a National historic museum near Houston, Texas and the first ever battleship to become a living museum. She is also noteworthy for being one of only seven remaining ships and the only remaining capital ship to have served in both World Wars.
